Emergency Food and Diaper Distribution
The SEED Food Distribution Center offers weekly emergency food assistance. They collaborate with the University of Maryland EFNEP, the Capital Area Food Bank, and the DC Diaper Bank to provide nutrition classes, fresh produce, and diaper giveaways. Recipients of diapers can engage in SEED’s Family Financial Fitness Program, where they also receive individual financial counseling from HUD-approved counselors.

SEED offers a pre-purchase and post education housing counseling program committed to increasing homeownership and decreasing foreclosures while providing financial education for all residents of Prince George’s County, Maryland and Wayne County, Michigan.

Family Financial Fitness Program
The Family Financial Fitness Program is an intensive yearlong program focused on moving families and young adults to financial stability for a secure future. Working sessions will include information on: credit basics, money management & budgeting, investments, insurance basics, retirement planning, savings trends, how to save on your utility bills, estate planning, and much more!


Headen Spring
Riverdale, MD. — Lincoln Avenue Communities, a mission-driven developer and owner of affordable housing, and Headen Spring Development, LLC, a partnership between Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ and its non-profit affiliate, Sowing Empowerment & Economic Development, Inc. (SEED), today announced their collaboration to develop Headen Spring, a multi-generational, mixed-income community to be built on a 10-acre site adjacent to the Riverdale Park Purple Line Station.
The conceptual master plan seeks to create a dynamic, urban environment for residents with amenities that support active living and promote a healthy lifestyle. The plan includes a mix of multifamily housing, a community building with amenities focused on the health, education and the empowerment needs of families within the community; and green space and walkable trails to continue the pedestrian experience from the light-rail station.

EXCEL Academy Public Charter School
EXCEL Academy Public Charter School (EAPCS), operated by SEED, provides a standards-based, holistic college preparatory education for students grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. EXCEL’s pillars are Character Development, College Prep, Community Partnership, and Cultural Arts.
SEED Extended Learning Program
SEED Extended Learning Program @ EXCEL. The SEED Extended Learning Program (SELP) provides specialized academic instruction designed to help students increase their knowledge in the areas of reading and math through tutoring and after-school instructions. SEED Summer Bridge is a community summer enrichment program for elementary school students that provides reading, math supplemental learning activities with social action.

EXCEL Academy Freedom School®
CDF Freedom School® is a culturally enriching program that strengthens academic, civic, and socioemotional skills in a creatively fun way. Children and youth are engaged in learning in a safe environment with caring adults.
Serving students in grades 1-6
- Admission based on academic referral. $100 registration fee
- Attendance at weekly Parent Meetings mandatory and a condition of acceptance.

Affordable Healthcare Enrollment & Outreach
SEED is an affordable healthcare enrollment site in partnership with the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services. Residents are guided through the process of signing up for quality healthcare options through the Maryland Health Exchange. Health education classes are also offered.
